What Trade Person do I need?

When wanting a job done it’s not always obvious what trade is required to do the job, for example as an Electrician, I would say the most common question asked by a customer is who should do an immersion heater swap. An immersion heater has both water and electricity contact, so it is reasonable to ask who should do an immersion heater swap. My view is that the main task is to drain down the tank safely, so the house does not get flooded, so therefore a plumber is most suited for the job, and most plumbers are competent enough to swap the live, neutral, and earth connection. An electrician on the other hand obviously can do the electrical connections, but don’t normally carry on the van an immersion spanner or the hose pipe required to drain down a tank, and if the connection isn’t in the obvious place, the job could go downhill rapidly.
